Race Recap

In my second Gridlife Rush event, I qualified P9, which seemed like a positive start to the weekend! Unfortunately, a good friend railed me on lap 2, sending me into the next county and ending my race. As the true judge of his character, though, he helped fix the car and didn’t leave until it was 100% done.
With a DNF in Race 1, I started Race 2 from 37th and worked my way up to 19th. That was a fun one! With the constant traffic I was working through, I didn’t set a great lap, though, so I would be starting Race 3 from 23rd.
Race 3 was the wet one. I was steadily moving forward early in the race, but then got a relatively innocent bump in T7 that unfortunately sent me around. I straightened the car, facing traffic and rolling backwards until cars cleared me, then yanked the wheel to back myself off the track. I was able to restart and rejoin, but could only work back up to 25th. In the process, I had some great back-and-forth hard, but CLEAN, racing with Rob Desjardins, Jared Anderson, and Heath Pomerantz that had us all sharing cheers after the checkered flag!
Race 4 went well, starting from 25th and moving up to 15th. I felt I had a lot of pace in the car and could have made more progress if not for the yellow flag interruption in the middle. In any case, there was great racing again, this time with Nick Billingsley, Bret Digiacomo, and Hasan Ahmed being the ones I was dicing it up with!
Race 4 was a positive way to end the weekend, but it really showed how compounding one set back can be! Qualify 9th, but being taken out of Race 1 put me in the back of Race 2, making it difficult to run a fast lap to qualify well for Race 3. Then from there I was steadily moving forward, but it was a slog to recover a points-scoring finish.
