About Us
RUSH Auto Works
We build race cars you can actually afford to run.
Founded in 2017 by David Hosie, Rush Auto Works set out to solve a simple problem: real motorsport had become too expensive for real people. David brought 35 years of product design and manufacturing experience—plus time running his own Formula Renault team—to create a car optimized for performance, reliability, and low operating costs.
The Rush SR delivers the technology and performance of cars costing 3-10x more, at a price point that makes sense. It’s as fun on lap 100 as it is on lap 1, without breaking the bank on consumables or maintenance.
Our 30,000 sqft Houston facility houses 5-axis CNC machining, composite manufacturing, and chassis fabrication—all under one roof. We’ve delivered over 300 cars since 2021 and now build at a rate of one per day.
The Rush SR competes in regional series across the US and Canada, and runs a national championship with GridLife.
Samuel Reed
President
Sam is a Computer Science graduate from Washington and Lee University, founder of BitMEX.com, and technology journeyman. A customer before he became an investor, Sam owns four Rush SRs and was one of Rush’s first customers. After three years as a minority investor, Sam took over principal ownership of the business. You’ll find him driving at most GridLife events, shaking his fist and deflating tires.
Allen Strommer
CEO
Allen comes from VSA Motorsports, where he built competitive Lotus Elises and Evoras for Lotus Cup and Pirelli World Challenge. His deep Lotus experience is a natural fit for the Rush SR, which draws heavy inspiration from Colin Chapman’s philosophy. He also brings years of dealership experience and time as a mechanic for a Ferrari Challenge team.

David Hosie
Late Founder
David graduated from Robert Gordon University with an HNC in mechanical engineering and spent 35 years leading design teams in the oil & gas industry. He also owned a 5-car Formula Renault team competing across North America. David designed the Rush SR from the ground up, optimizing every detail for manufacturability and reliability.
The RAW family misses Dave greatly. Grassroots motorsport is forever changed by his work.

Patrick McCabe
Design Engineer
Patrick graduated from UT Austin with a BS in Aerospace Engineering, where he led the Electric Formula SAE team. A self-described CNC junkie, he brings serious machining expertise to our in-house 5-axis milling capabilities.

Michael Young
Chief Designer & Stylist
Michael studied at the Columbus College of Art and Design and worked at Zukun Plan Design Studio. His automotive portfolio includes the Sector 111 Draken, Palatov D5, and designs for Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus.
